I was just thinking today about how extraordinarily surreal and bizarre it was that the Bills signed Terrell Owens. In hindsight, I can't even fathom that TO played here.

That got me wondering--what other surreal FO moments have there been in Bills history (e.g., signings, cuts, trades, draft picks)?   I'm not talking about good or bad decisions--but, rather, ones that, after the fact, are crazy to fathom having occurred.

Bruce, Thurman, and Andre finding out they were released by the Bills from the media.

Trading Lamonica and Bass for Flores and Powell. Hands down, most surreal and WORST.EVER.MOVE.

That Mario Williams never left town- bam, signed!

Then the Defense sucked and MW was kinda "meh" for the most part- he did pick it up later in the season after the wrist fix, but seriouly...

I was shocked they signed him.

Shocked that we reached so hard on that pick, OR, that he busted so hard while producing nothing?

Signing Ryan Fitzpatrick I couldn't believe it when it happened.

signing milloy at the start of the season was pretty surreal given the context of the way the opening game ended up (but ignoring the season)

This was a close second for me.  Just their release was surreal.

Signing of Mario Williams. I had visions of Reggie White when he signed with Green Bay...then reality hit....

As was the resultant sight of Thurman wearing a Dolphins uni.

Starting RJ over Flutie in the Music City Forward Lateral.  It was Ralph's decision.

Blowing up the 2004 team after they won 8 out of the last 10 or whatever it was and had some serious mojo workin'.

Releasing Flutie after he had a perfect QB rating in his last game as a Bill in a monsoon in Seattle and keeping RJ.

Signing (twice) and paying T Jackson and never allowing him to suit up for a game.

Thurman in a Dolphins uniform.  Bruce Smith a Redskin.  Drafting of Aaron Maybin  Trading up for J.P. Losman.  Drafting John McCargo.  The list is pretty long.  There's been quite a bit of ineptitude in this organization and plenty to be baffled about.

Without thinking about it too much, this one comes immediately to mind...who knows what, if any, logic was at work here.  When they re-signed him, I wasn't sure who had made the bigger mistake, the Bills or Travares Jackson.

The trade back and drafting of E.J. Manuel this year was pretty surreal for me and the group I was with.

+1.  Seeing the Bills lose Home run throwback after having wrapped up the game is still the biggest fork in the throat for this franchise.

Another three words for you: Donte !@#$ing Whitner. Did anybody think we wouldn't take Ngata?

A hearty "second" to Flutie being benched for RJ. Not that Flutie was perfect, but under those circumstances, that was a real WTF moment for me.
