I know this going to be unpopular to say, but if Kyle Williams and Marcel Dareus can't get it done up front this season, then it's time the Bills look to replace those guys next season. I like both players, but the run defense has been atrocious for years now and it needs to be fixed. In the preseason, the Bills got shredded on the ground by the Redskins who were without RGIII. Last year, the run defense ranked 31st giving up 145.8 YPG; 2011: 28th with 139.0 YPG; and 2010: 32nd giving up 169.8 YPG.

There's much more to the run defense besides Kyle and Marcel. True, they can shoulder some of the blame, but if those two are the biggest weaknesses in the front 7, then the Bills defense is an all time great.

Last year under Wandsted the front line philosphy was very different than the year before, and this year.   His philosphy was to use the DL to contain the blockers and rely on the LBs to make plays.   Bills LBs werent all pro--thus problems.   heir strength was and still is in the front 4---you need to utilize those plays to the max.

Hallelujah! Amen!

After seeing the Bills get shredded on the ground against the Skins in the 3rd preseason game, minus their star running QB [RGIII], you have to start questioning if the Bills have the right players at DT.

If the run D doesn't improve, and it's clear that the DTs aren't getting it done, then you obviously need to look at getting new DTs. How is this even a question?

Well, if it's any consolation, I full expect 3 or 4 11-12 yd runs right up the gut on Sunday...because that's kinda just what the Patriots do.

Leave it to the Bills to draft #3 overall in a top heavy year and still come away with the most disappointing player in that top group. Yea I know dareus had a tragic event in his life happen last year but still he has not looked like a dominating, pro bowl DT in any of his first two years. Missing on top 5 picks will keep setting you back for years...

Everyone is scared to death that Dareus is an unmotivated out of shape Haynesworthian bust and that kyle's feet are.shot.  The only hope is that wanny was incompetent and things are not as bad as they looked last year, or preseason games 3 and 4. .  We will find out Sunday by about 1:30.

I think that's pretty much accurate. Btw, when is Dareus's contract year? That's when he'll find his game.

Maybe dareus just isnt that good. He played on a stacked Alabama team so maybe it made him look better than he really is.

I believe this - you cant base it on Wannstadt or Edwards scheme...Dave's coaching special teams in Tampa and George is coaching linebackers in Miami neither to be a d coordinator again
