The majority are not returnable.  To me we have lost a key part of the game but I guess safety trumps the return game.

What makes it even worse is there are usually commercials before and after the kickoff

Not meaningless to me. I almost screamed when Carpenter squibbed that last kick so Carolina was close to mid-field at the end.

It's totally a shame.  But I don't want to see guys get hurt either.

Yeah.  If they'd had Hopkins, he would have booted it out of the endzone and it wouldn't have even been that close.

This, it's too much and a big reason I barely watch other games.

I would like to see the kickoff line changed and moved back for the 4th qtr-- at least give us some returns when the game is on the line

Tell this to the Bears after today's opening kickoff.  :D

This is a good idea.   I like it.  The rest of the time they can just skip them.  They are pointless, and I'm not sure how much safety is gained given that people are still blocking and shedding blocks in case someone takes the ball out of the endzone.

I have been unhappy since the rule change.  Kickoffs used to be one of the single most exciting plays of the game.  Buffalo has had some great return men and still do.  Moving the ball up so every kicker in the league can force a touchback is just plain horrible for this game.

The squib was by design because Carpenter is unreliable on KO's.

Yes we should care, and it sucks, but with the NFL just doling out I don't know how many
Millions in the concussion suit, I don't believe we will see any changes soon.

I suppose the squib kick yesterday left some questions in the game but I hate the loss of this aspect of the game.  It certainly does call for very strong legged kickers as the best strategy does seem to kick it either very deep in the end zone or out of the end zone.  It will be interesting to see how wind conditions play into the situation later in the season.
