Miami fans are actually happy that he is leaving. That's rough to hear if you are a bronco fan.

Yeah, I heard that. And Kubiak won a Super Bowl. What has Joseph done?

he was just the DBs coach in Cincy a year ago. Pretty quick ascension.

Who didn't think they could get McDermott?

He was lucky to get looks after some of the choke jobs by that D this past season and the arrogance they showed in cutting loose Josh Norman from his franchise tag because they said McDermott's system was what made Norman look good.

McDermott could have easily become cold product and viewed as just a career DC if he didn't get this chance.

Or the field were taking a more reasoned approach looking at his overall track record, realizing that a defense doesn't hinge on one player ( as if Norman led the Redskins to a playoff berth even with a very productive offense) and that the entire Panthers team imploded.

i don't necessarily agree with Elway but he runs that organization with some brass balls and zero !@#$s about outside noise. Maybe the sound of those huge brass ones banging together has drowned it out?

Well, unlike the hiring of Rex Ryan, I don't immediately disagree with the move. I knew instantly that Ryan would fail, but I will clearly reserve judgment on the new hire.

My biggest concern will be the quality and experience of his coaching staff he hires.

I hope he succeeds.

p.s. Why do all these head coaching candidates get (a minimum) 5 year contracts? Pegula can piss away all the money he wants, but I would feel that a three year contract would be a better choice. I know why the candidate wants a long contract, but why would the owner bet on an unproven entity for five years?

Coaches want stability too. Why go somewhere that you could be shown the door in just two years (as most teams would have no problem eating one year of a deal) and possibly not get another look as a HC. It's so easy to change coaches- much easier than getting new players.

Local Charlotte sports radio 610am WFNZ :
They are suggesting that this is akin to Hu Jackson taking the Browns job = mistake.
They are throwing Whaley under the bus and asking if Whaley will even be there in a year.

Thing is, Hue is still highly regarded. The Browns clearly planned to fail this year and have abundant cap space, and now that have the 1st and 12th overall picks.

Say what you want about the FO, I like the McDermott pick.

Has that been reported already, what McDermott's contract will be?

I believe it was reported Marrone and the Jags GM both got 3

McDermott is a no non-sense, strong-minded coach. He will make players accountable. Would expect a culture change is coming to Bills.

Are you insinuating that there is an acceptable amount of this action and Whaley has exceeded it?

First overpaying for Sammy. Now this. Guy is just too generous, I suppose.

You are giving this poster too much credit assuming he actually has a real point.
