Seems a little similar to the Rams strategy this last season with Keenum/Goff, except that TT > Keenum, and Watson < Goff.

Ummm nope

No offense, Bobby, but this looks to me like a solution that leads to 3-13.

And guess what. Thats because this is not a good football team and people thag think they can push for the playoffs next year are delusional

You should have saved all those words and just posted this as your OP (it's your MO).

Brian Hoyer was funny though....

Blah blah blah

Dont worry though probably about to change and Hoyer be replaced with Foles

Yeah it's real heavy on getting as many cheap, stop-gap JAGS in free agency as possible without spending anywhere near close to the cap............Marv and Jauron would be proud of an offseason like that.

It's a matchup league.......you can only march so many JAGS out there and expect to win.

And yet every person you want to call a JAG in my plan is a major upgrade over what is on the roster

And it is a HORRIBLE Idea to spend to the cap the 1st year in a new HC. Save that rollover space for year 2

It's funny how it's "not a good football team" when coming up with justification for replacing Taylor with Cardale/rookie.............but when getting Romo becomes the discussion, from the same people we get a rundown of all the Bills playmakers.......Watkins, McCoy, Clay and their top ranked rushing offense OL. :flirt:

The reality is that it's a team with fringe playoff talent right now........high scoring offense, good at protecting the football, lot's of under-utilized assets on defense.

You will never see me advocate trading for Romo, Cutler, Rivers etc etc etc.

Why? Because this is a meddling team with a killer schedule next year that will not come close to making the playoffs

A HORRIBLE idea is allowing your new ROOKIE HC to get off to a bad start.

The Bills misappropriated some funds when they went on their spending spree for Rex when he arrived........but it was the right idea......give the new coach the tools to succeed.

The people who think McDermott has a long leash to get the Bills turned around thought the same about Rex........2 bad seasons and McDermott is TOAST.

As for major upgrades........I see no major upgrades to Taylor, Gilmore, Z.Brown and Lorax on that list.    Not ANY of them......let alone ALL of them.

Klien and Anzalone upgrade Brown
No there is not an upgrade at Gilmore i actually hate letting Gilmore walk but i dont see him as a cost effective fit in this Defense
Lorax upgrade at DE already on the team
Taylor Upgrade is drafted in Round 1

And yes i am not just talking about 2017

But i got in in Bills fan world NO WAY a Rookie can be better than someone that is AVG

You don't need a Vet when you are looking for a QB. This is something that shouldn't be needed, you are trying to find your QB not grab some bad QB who won't do anything if he wins the battle but win you enough games to get a draft pick that people will be mad at.

One thing to bear in mind with your cap space projections that I've just come across. Both Preston Brown and Seantrel Henderson are eligible for a Proven Performance Escalator. That figure is set at the low tariff for RFA tender, likely to be around $1.8m each. So there's roughly another $2m added onto the cap.

With his illness and suspension, expect to see Seantrel go bye-bye real fast.

I asked this in another post and got no answer. Since Henderson is suspended the first 5 games, does he even count against the cap and roster space till almost mid season? If not, why keep him around till then as a free insurance policy?

Come on now Maj, don't you go peeing in their Koolaide and diluting it!

Maj, have you thought about AJ  McCarron instead of Hoyer. Get McCarron from the Bengals for a 5th, which is where they got him. They had him for 4 years of use and they get their 5th back. We use the extra 5th we got in the Cassel trade. In the last year of his contract, the Bengals would like to get something out of him this year before he is a FA. His contract is a paltry $735,000. A perfect bridge QB, who even has a possibility to pleasantly surprise us with his play.

2015-16 Stats  97.1 QB 66.4 CMP%, 854 yards. Started 4 games. Has played in 9 total regular season games. He is younger, still might have an upside, and is a whole lot cheaper. I think you get similar performance from him for a lot less, with more upside. You know exactly what you have with Hoyer, and will never get more. With McCarron you have the possibility of an upside. It gives you a lot more cap space to spend where you want it.

The chances are SLIM. In all likelihood he won't be better then Tyrod. It's not a gamble worth taking, especially with this franchise recent history.

Turnovers will without question increase. You'd rather force what could be a complete disaster into the lineup then go with a guy who's proven he can lead a prolific offense.

You and Whaley have a lot in common....

The rookie has to be used how taylor was used.  not throw a lot, big run game and the x factor...much better defense.  if that defense is back in the top ten we can get better.

I'm not sure why everyone's up in arms over Tyrod... yea he's not a franchise QB, but he does a lot of good things and is good enough for now until you find that guy.

The defense was a !@#$ing disaster. Fix that and the team is competing for a playoff spot easily. I'm wait BADOL. Build some success first before you throw a rookie out there.

i'm not up in arms over him. i'd be absolutely ok going with him next year. i'm just saying if we were to go with a rookie at the 10 pick we would need to shed taylors cap hit to sign FA's and load the team with more defensive talent that we'd miss out on at the 10 pick.  I agree the defense was why we lost last year.

I could get on that train. I really dont want to give up assets however a 5th i can part with.

Maj this plan looks like youve been watching the movie Money Ball wayyyyy too much. I get it bro it was a good movie with a cool idea but let it go!

I do think they let Gilmore walk if McDermy can find a cheaper CB that can play the zone CB as good as Gilmore for cheaper.

Id rather hold on to Tyrod for the extra 8M instead of bringing in Hoyer cuz then we need to severely upgrade the RT spot too. A good one will run at least 6-8M so thats a wash. You wanna give the new coach some ammo without breaking the cap. Remmers is ok I have him as a back up in a Madden Franchise.

I wouldnt cut Graham for the extra 2M he is good veteran presence and we can move him to back up corner if we draft a S high and bring in another one in FA.

With Watkins constant issues we should draft a WR high, re-sign Hunter, Powell, Tate (all cheap but serviceable) and Shady is gonna make sure DJax gets a look in Buffalo during FA. He can replace and upgrade RW.

As for Watson, with the amount of picks he throws, let him beat Tyrod out in camp 1st.

Id rather go WR or S at #10. Or a trade back in R1 to pick up Mahomes at the end of 1 and a WR and S in R2.

Sounds like a solid plan...

On the FA, maybe the Bills could make a run at J.Cutler (discounted 2 yr heavy incentive deal) and get him to help make a run at A.Jeffery.  If not possible, don't mind Hoyer.  Also, have to try to get R.Wagner for that money but settle for Remmers if not able to get it done.

Have to imagine K.Williams will come back on a restructured, 1 year deal.

In the draft...getting Watson at 10 would be great.  If not available, just have to take the highest rated D-Linemen or offensive playmaker and do the same in the 2nd round.  In the 3rd round, can take a really good safety/DB like Xavier Woods (La Tech), Desmond King (Iowa) or John Johnson (BC).

Kendall Wright would be your classic BUST- 1st round pick whose production has dropped from 1000 yds to 700 to back to back 400 yd seasons. From a team STARVING for any wideouts. (Tenn)

Webster very likely going back to Denver they have already had previous contact about coming back

Remmers - wouldn't the smarter and cost prohibitive move be move Glenn and Let Cyrus play left tackle

I like the Colin Jones move

John Cryprien would be a huge move, but I think he's going to land a big contract I think he's a tremendous player

Cut Carp, Cut Graham - yes , yes

Can not cut Kyle he's our best player and by a lot

I'd keep Tyrod and not touch Hoyer
